Students Travel to the Bronx for Spanish Language Immersion Trip
Nine Fairmont State University Spanish students traveled to the Bronx, New York, for a Spanish immersion and service-learning experience on May 13 through19.
Reception Planned for Graduating International Students
The Office of International Student Services, in collaboration with the International Education Committee, will host a reception for international students who are graduating from Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College.
The event will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. Friday, May 11, in Room 303 of the Education Building. The reception is open to the public, and refreshments will be provided.
Seven graduating students from China, Japan, Nepal and the United Kingdom will be recognized and celebrated.

Nine students from Fairmont State University will travel to New York from May 13-19, 2012, with Dr. Julie Sellers for the very first immersion-style experience within the borders of the United States that the university has offered.
Panel Discussion on Comparative Religion Set for April 23
The Instructor Exchange Ad-Hoc Committee of the Fairmont State University Faculty Senate will host a Panel Discussion on Comparative Religion from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 23, in Multi-Media Room A of the Ruth Ann Musick Library.
International Festival on Campus Week of April 9
An International Festival is planned this week on the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College. The events are organized by the Office of International Student Services, International Student Organization, Student Government and the International Education Committee.
Intro to Global Perspectives Students Travel to Canada
As part of the Introduction to Global Perspectives course, which offers students a chance to familiarize themselves with cultures and concepts outside their own, 11 students and two instructors from Fairmont State University spent their spring break in Canada. This trip, which offered many students their first international experience, was funded by a grant from the Consortium for Internationalizing Higher Education, part of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.
Honors Students to Travel to Low Countries of Western Europe
Students from Fairmont State University will be in the Low Countries of Western Europe as part of the annual International Study/Travel course from Monday through Saturday, March 10-17.
Roads to Appalachia Trip to Northern Ireland Planned
The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center on the campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College is sponsoring a study and travel abroad program in the summer of 2012 called Roads to Appalachia through Northern Ireland.
Welcome Reception for New International Students on Jan. 24
The Office of International Student Services will host a welcome reception for international students attending Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
