Students enrolled in at least 12 credit hours this semester.
Have a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at the time of their nomination, unless there is no credit hour requirement for the position.
Some positions are specific for Fairmont State students.
All Student Government members upon winning their seat in Student Government Elections will be expected, regardless of position, to:
Spring Election Positions:
The Executive Officers of Student Government consist of the Student Body President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Executive Officers must be fulltime students (12 Credits) and hold a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. Officers must not be candidates for Winter Graduation, student teaching, or in a practicum or internship that prevents them from fulfilling their duties during their time in office. Executive Officers must have served at least one full term in Student Government and attended no less than 50% of regularly scheduled meetings. Lastly, officers must have completed no less than 30 credit hours as a student of Fairmont State University.
Treasurer Will elect 1- Must have completed 30 credit hours at Fairmont State by the end of this semester. Assumes the role of President in the absence of the President & Vice President, shall present & prepare a bi-monthly statement of all expenditures for SGA, and serves as Chair of the Club Funding Committee and other special committees at the discretion of the president. The term of office is from April to April.
Residence Hall Representatives Residence Hall Directors will appoint 5 – It is preferred for Residence Hall Reps to have already completed 30 credit hours. Must be a Fairmont State student and must live in the Residence Hall you will represent. Will be expected to report to SGA concerning the needs of resident students as well as announcing the SGA sponsored events to the resident community. There will be one representative for each residence hall: University Terrace, Morrow Hall, Pence Hall, Bryant Place and Pence Hall Each residence hall is responsible for nominating a representative to the President. Each residence hall representative must then be approved by the body of Student Government by a majority vote. The term of office is from the time of appointment in the Fall Semester to the end of the academic year.
Multi-Cultural Representative SGA President will appoint 1- Must have completed 30 credit hours at Fairmont State by the end of this semester. Will serve as a liaison between the Office of Multi-Cultural Affairs, International Affairs, and Student Government. The term of office is from the time of appointment in the Fall Semester to the end of the academic year.
Greek Life SGA President will appoint 2- Representatives to SGAA on behalf of the Greek Life Community; one from the fraternities, one from the sororities. The representatives must be considered active members within their organization.
Honors SGA President will appoint 2- Representatives to SGAA on behalf of the Honors Program; the representatives must be full members of Honors and must remain a member throughout their term.
Commuter SGA President will appoint 1- Representative on behalf of the commuter population; this representative must not reside on campus at any time during their term.
Veterans SGA Representative will appoint 1- Representative on behalf of the student veterans population; this representative must be a veteran of any United States military branch.
Athletics SGA President will appoint 2- Representatives on behalf of the various sports teams associated with Fairmont State, one from men’s athletics, one from women’s athletics. These representatives must be members of any NCAA sports team at Fairmont State.
*Faction Representatives Qualifications: These representatives serve as the liaison between their respective faction, and SGA. They are voted upon by their respective faction, serve from April to April, and have no required hour completion.
