Fairmont State University invites interested students and their families to the second annual Kanawha Valley Family Picnic at Coonskin Park in Charleston, West Virginia on Saturday, June 24.

There, future Falcons will have the opportunity to learn more about enrolling for the Fall 2023 semester. Fairmont State representatives will be on hand to answer questions related to housing, financial aid, student life and more. The event is open to both admitted and prospective students, including non-traditional and transfer students.

“Our Office of Admissions and Welcome Center will be present with a vast amount of information on scholarships, academic programs, and general information surrounding Fairmont State University,” said Justin Rader, Assistant Director of Student Life. “Students will be able to ask questions regarding the FAFSA, how to apply for housing, and what student engagement looks like on campus.”

In addition, prospective students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of lawn games and win prizes, including a one-time $1,000 scholarship (the winner must be present and complete an admissions application). Food and refreshments will also be served.

“We want to ensure that questions are answered and that students and their families feel comfortable with Fairmont State,” said Rader. “We want students and families to see for themselves that we nurture a family-like environment here at the University.”

The free event kicks off at 1 p.m. at the Gorman Shelter at Coonskin Park. Those interested in attending are encouraged to preregister at https://apply.fairmontstate.edu/register/?id=3af61d60-e7f8-4403-814d-e11c72a1705d, but walk-ins are also welcome.

“This will be a kid-friendly event with lots of fun, lots of answers and lots of friendly Falcon folks,” said Rader.
