Donors Can Receive State Tax Credits for Their Gift

The Fairmont State Foundation, Inc., which serves Pierpont Community & Technical College and Fairmont State University, has received more than $61,000 in state tax credits through the West Virginia Development Office's Neighborhood Investment Program to offer special giving incentives to help raise money for student scholarships.

Pierpont students have the opportunity to get more involved in campus decision-making and to make a difference for themselves, their peers, and future students.

Student Government elections will be held online, September 14^th from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Students interested in being on the ballot need to attend the September 9^th Student Government meeting in 128 Hardway Hall. The meeting begins at 12:30 p.m.

Students Reminded to Check Status of Their Account

Students are reminded to check their accounts to make sure they have paid or made arrangements for payment for fall semester expenses. Please make sure this is all in order by the close of business on Friday, September 3^rd. Students will be removed from classes for nonpayment beginning Tuesday, September 7^th. Lovett Named Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs

Board of Governors Observes Moment of Silence for Student

The Pierpont Community & Technical College Board of Governors observed a moment of silence at its meeting, Tuesday, August 24^th, to remember the student who died on campus over the weekend. A moment of silence was also observed earlier in the day at a student convocation.

"We grieve with the student's family and friends," said James E. Griffin, board chairman. "What a tragic thing to have happen."

Tragedy Strikes as Semester Begins

A Pierpont Community & Technical College student died on campus, Saturday, August 21^st.

The student was living in a residence hall on the main campus shared by Pierpont and Fairmont State University.

The incident, which occurred in Morrow Hall, is under investigation by the FSU Department of Public Safety. No foul play is suspected. According to the Department of Public Safety, there is no indication that any other students, staff or faculty were or are in danger related to the student's death.

Corley Named Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Fairmont State University has named Devanna Corley as Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement. She will begin her duties Monday, Aug. 16, and will serve until a permanent appointment to the position is made. The Office of Institutional Advancement provides services to both FSU and its sister institution, Pierpont Community & Technical College.

Enrollment Services Office to Close One Hour Early on Aug. 3

The Office of Enrollment Services, Room 248 Hardway Hall, will close at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, to allow for air conditioning repairs.

The office's regular hours are Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Office will be open until 4:00 p.m. on that date.

Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
