The Pierpont Culinary Academy of Pierpont Community & Technical College recently won the American Culinary Federation state culinary competition in Beckley.

A Veterans Student Panel will take place at noon on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, in the third floor conference center of the Falcon Center. A panel of veterans who are FSU and Pierpont students will discuss their military experiences and campus life. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Gregory Noone, Director of FSU's National Security and Intelligence Program and Assistant Professor of Political Science and Law.

Pierpont Community & Technical College's School of Human Services participated in "e-week" on Oct. 19-24, part of the planning efforts for academic continuity in the case of an emergency that would cause campus to close.

The ninth annual Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center Gala will honor a nationally prominent storyteller and the state's storytelling guild. This year's theme is "The Festival of the Story."

A Pierpont Community & Technical College faculty member will speak at Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pa., on Thursday, Oct. 8, as a Distinguished Lecturer in Criminal Justice. 

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center at Fairmont State University is sponsoring a travel abroad program called Roads to Appalachia through Eastern Europe 2010: From the Carpathians to the Alleghenies. The trip will explore the life, culture and root heritage of Eastern Europeans in West Virginia.

"The Shrine to Suspension of Disbelief and Other Visionary Images and Objects by Mark Soppeland" opens Thursday, Oct. 8.
