Student Athlete Advisory Committee Hosts Make-A-Wish Reception on Nov. 29

Nov 28, 2011

The Fairmont State University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will host a Make-A-Wish reception and talk on Nov. 29 between the women’s and men’s basketball contests against West Liberty. The reception will involve a presentation from the North Central West Virginia chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation featuring Hannah Underwood, a recent recipient of a “Wish.”

Underwood is the daughter of April (Freeman) Kaleel, who was a cheerleader at Fairmont State, and niece of Chris Freeman who played basketball for the Falcons.

The presentation will start approximately at 6:45 p.m. (pending the end time of the women’s basketball game) and will be located in the classrooms of the Feaster Center. All fans are invited to attend.

The presentation marks the start of the Fairmont State SAAC’s annual efforts to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Make-A-Wish is the official charity of NCAA Division II athletics with over $405,752 raised by member institutions in 2010-11. Each year the NCAA keeps a record of the funds raised with schools and conferences ranked for their efforts. The FSU SAAC has made it a goal to become a nationally ranked group for fundraising this year.

The first fundraising activity for the year is a “Falcons Calendar” which will be on sale in early December.
