Credit Report Workshop Set for Oct. 28

Oct 27, 2008

Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College Student Government and the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team are sponsoring a Credit Workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Multi-Media Room A of the Ruth Ann Musick Library on main campus.

The credit crisis is being felt all across the nation. The first step to protecting or improving personal credit is to learn how to read and understand a credit report. Many people do not understand where their credit information is stored; what goes into their credit report; how long information remains on the credit report; how, and by whom, the credit report is used; or how to correct inaccuracies found on their credit report. The seminar presenter, Larry Wilson of CBC INNOVIS, will help provide answers to these and many other questions about credit reports. Time will be provided for questions and answers.

Protect your credit and fight identity theft by monitoring, reviewing and beginning to understand your credit report. Those who attend should bring a recent copy of their credit report so they can ask questions of personal interest. A free copy of your credit report may be obtained by going to AnnualCreditReport.com at this web address: http://www.annualcreditreport.com/

The seminar is open to the public. Pre-registration is not necessary, but is encouraged.  To register for the credit workshop, contact Dr. Jack Kirby at (304) 367-4183 or jkirby@fairmontstate.edu.
