Dr. Robin K. Payne, Associate Professor of History, has been named Associate Director of the Honors Program, according to Dr. Richard C. Harvey, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Next June, Dr. Payne will become the Director of the Honors Program.
Two students and three faculty members from Fairmont State University’s Honors Program attended the National Collegiate Honors Council’s annual meeting in November in New Orleans. Angelica E. Starcovic and Cam’Ron D. Allen joined Drs. Robin K. Payne, Nathan C. Myers, and J. Robert Baker in listening to students and faculty from around the United States and the Netherlands present ideas and information about the best practices in Honors education.
The annual Celebration of Student Scholarship honored the undergraduate research and creative work of Fairmont State University’s students on Wednesday in the Falcon Center Conference Rooms.
Another purpose is to recognize faculty mentors whose guidance has helped students reach their academic goals. Student efforts reflect the importance of independent, discipline-specific research as an exceptional learning experience.
