Student majoring in Business; 3.0 GPA; renewable; preference may be given to students of Italian American heritage as long as the award is administered per the policies and procedures of the Foundation and the Financial Aid Office. The PEO Endowed Scholarship*

Financial need; non-traditional student with a preference to a Marion County resident; the award, if from time to time deemed appropriate by the PEO Sisterhood Scholarship Committee, may be given throughout their college career; students entering college for first time or re-entering college after a time away need not have minimum GPA. For returning students the minimum GPA is 3.2.

Completed one academic year at FSU; 3.0 GPA; Marion County high school graduate; student must complete a scholarship application and submit an official transcript; student must write an essay explaining why deserving of the scholarship, demonstrating qualities and characteristics of leadership, scholarship and service by May 31.

The Anthony J. and Josephine Pitrolo Endowed Scholarship

Must not be receiving any other scholarship or aid from the Foundation; full-time; major: Business and Economics; preference will be given to Marion County high school graduates, but recipients need not be exclusively from the county.

Andee Pollastrini Scholarship

Non-traditional Nursing student in either the two- or four-year program; may be renewable; family request that the recipient be informed of the origin of the scholarship, and that the recipient tell Andee's story to the class so more people will know about domestic violence.

Woodrow A. Potesta Scholarship of Accounting

Demonstrated financial need; high school GPA of 2.0; Accounting major; renewable up to four years with a maximum 2.0 GPA (up to 2.5 if need be); preferable but not required that the recipient be a resident of the western portion of Green County, Pa.; Monongalia County or Marion County, W.Va.

Pratt & Whitney Scholarship*

Awarded to Aviation majors by the Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center; criteria set by awarding department.

Frank Pulice, Jr., Endowed Scholarship Fund*

Applicants should be members of the Theta Delta Chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Eligibility may be extended to the Theta Delta Alumni and their immediate families. If for any reason there are no qualified applicants from the aforementioned, the Scholarship Committee may open the award to any FSU student who qualifies; based on financial need; applicants must maintain a 2.5 overall average and be making normal progress toward degree completion; good moral character.

Quota International of Fairmont Endowed Scholarship

Full- time student; cumulative 3.0 GPA; ranked as a sophomore or junior; financial need; all other qualifications being nearly equal, preference shall be (1) hearing impaired (2) Marion County resident (3) Major: Special Education.

Major: Theatre; GPA 2.0; freshman Theatre major or Oral Communication (Speech and Theatre) as a first teaching field; advisor will be a Theatre or Oral Communication advisor, a faculty member of the Speech Communication & Theatre Department within the School of Fine Arts; scholarship is renewable.

Ruth Marie Skaggs Award

Pursuing a baccalaureate Family and Consumer Sciences degree; cumulative GPA of 3.0; must have successfully completed at least 26 hours; financial need; not available to students whose parents and/ or spouse are/is an employee of FSU.

Datha Gene Smith Foundation Scholarship

Resident of Marion County; most needy student who applies from FSU; renewable up to four years; high school GPA of 2.0; must maintain a 2.5 GPA; full-time FSU student.

Financial need; recognized member of FSU football team. Leah and Franc Stern Women's Athletic Scholarship

Christiane Buck Sweeney Scholarship

French or French Education major; GPA 3.0; may award to freshman or returning student; renewable.

J. Lyle Tatterson Charitable Trust

West Virginia resident; graduate of West Virginia high school; two- or four-year program; sound character; financial need; GPA of 2.5; may be renewable with 2.0 GPA after the first year and then a 2.2 GPA thereafter.

TBI Turley-Wallman Endowed Scholarship*

Member of Tau Beta Iota fraternity; eligibility will also be extended to the Tau Beta Iota alumni and their immediate families. Immediate family is defined as a parent, brother, sister, child or grandchild of any member of TBI Fraternity. If no qualified applicants in any academic year, no disbursement will be made; must maintain a 3.0 overall average and be making normal progress toward a normal four- or two-year degree completion and considered a full-time student; good moral character; demonstrated willingness to serve the college and the local community; participation in functions and activities of TBI fraternity; participation in extracurricular activities.

John Teahan Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Student majoring in English (literature); minimum of 3.0 GPA; financial need will be a consideration; scholarship award may be renewed if student remains academically eligible.

Preference given to incoming freshmen but upperclassmen may also apply; award amount divided evenly between the School of Education and the College of Science and Technology.

Student pursing a B.A. in Education with the comprehensive (K-12) Music Major in the School of Fine Arts; strong preference to resident of West Virginia who demonstrates financial need and is making suitable academic progress; renewable up to four years but renewability is not guaranteed; for Nursing students may be actively pursuing the B.S. degree in Nursing in the FSU School of Nursing; strong preference will be given to a resident of West Virginia who demonstrates need and is making suitable academic progress; the scholarship can be renewable over the course of years up to four years, but any award in one year does not guarantee the award in succeeding years.

Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US Post 629 Endowed Scholarship*

Financial need; recipient must not be receiving any other scholarship or aid from the Foundation; incoming freshman; full-time student; must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA for renewal; West Virginia high school graduate with 2.0 GPA or combat veteran with GED; priority: (1) members of Post 629 (2) spouse, children or descendant of Post 629 (3) U.S. Veteran of Foreign Wars (4) spouse, children or descendants of a veteran of foreign wars; renewal for a maximum of eight semesters. Must meet criteria and making progress toward degree.

Helen Romano Viggiano Elementary Education Endowed Scholarship

Full-time student; pursuing a degree in Elementary Education with a lifelong commitment to classroom instruction; must have entering GPA of 3.0 and is recommended to maintain same to seek renewal; may be eligible to renew the scholarship for a maximum of eight semesters; primary, but not exclusive, consideration will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as determined by FSU Financial Aid.

West Virginia Society of Washington, D.C., Book Scholarship Fund*

Incoming freshman; legal resident of West Virginia or the child of a native West Virginian; financial need must be demonstrated by FAFSA; selection will alternate annually male/female until a time when the fund can support two annual scholarships.

Women of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College Scholarships*

Scholarships for non-traditional students are awarded by the FSU President and Pierpont President; amounts determined by funds donated by the Women of Fairmont State and Pierpont.

Betty Jo Wright (Class of 1941) Social Work Scholarship

Student must be of junior class standing pursuing a four-year degree in Sociology or Psychology within the College of Liberal Arts; renewable for senior year but renewability is not guaranteed; if award is made at the senior class level, no award will be made at the junior class level; preference to student who shows a commitment to pursuing a career in professional social work or post-graduate; preference to student with financial need; 3.0 cumulative GPA; student must express an interest in obtaining an MSW.
