Welcome to Fairmont State University Financial Aid Office!


It is the mission of the Fairmont State University Financial Aid and Scholarship Office to assist students achieve their educational goals by promoting scholarships, grants, Federal Work Study, and loans. We understand that these opportunities are needed to make college a reality for many students. We aim to educate, assist, and inform students about the financial aid resources    available to them in a student friendly atmosphere. 

Financial assistance in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study is available to full and part-time students who qualify. Approximately 80% of the students at Fairmont State University receive some type of financial assistance, totaling approximately $36 million.  


Summer School 2018

Are you registering for summer 2018 classes? Are you looking for financial aid assistance?

Follow the steps below:

1.  No application required, you will be considered after you register for your summer courses.

2.  Complete 1718 FAFSA if you have not already done so.

3.  Check your Satisfactory Academic Progress Status on your FELiX account.  You must be making satisfactory academic progress or consider a satisfactory academic progress appeal.  Your status may change after the spring 2018 grades are posted.

4.  Make sure all requirements are completed.  You can check your requirements on FELiX.

5.  Your eligibility will be evaluated within 10 business days after you register for your summer courses.

6.  Check your email.  All awards will be communicated through your university email account.  All students are responsible for their student account balance, regardless of financial aid eligibility. 

7.  Summer registration after May 7th will not guarantee funds available by the first day of summer 2018 courses, May 21st.

2018-19 FAFSA

Important information you need to know. 


What do you need to complete the FAFSA?

  • Your Social Security Number
  • Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
  • Your 2016 federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned.
    • (Note: You may be able to transfer your federal tax return information into your FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)
  • Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
  • Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
  • An FSA ID to sign electronically.
  • If you are a dependent student, then you will also need most of the above information for your parent(s).

When should you complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA?

  • Complete your FAFSA as soon as possible after October 1.
  • Institutional deadlines have not changed. Fairmont State University priority deadline is March 1st.
  • State deadlines have not changed. 
    • Promise Scholarship Deadline:  March 1st
    • West Virginia Higher Education Grant Deadline:  April 15th

When will students begin receiving award notifications for the 2018-2019 academic year?

  • Fall 2018 First Time Freshman will begin receiving award packages in December if:
    • Student has been admitted to Fairmont State University
    • FAFSA and Financial Aid file is complete.
  • Fall 2018 Upperclass/continuing students will begin receiving award packages in March if:
    • FAFSA and Financial Aid file is complete.
    • Student is meeting satisfactory academic progress
