Mission

The main objective of the Fairmont State University Aviation Center of Excellence is to educate aspiring pilots to be well-rounded aviation professionals. Our goal is to graduate not just a pilot but also an exceptional aviator.

The Fairmont State College of Business and Aviation has two B.S. in Aviation options:

Professional Flight

The Professional Flight option at Fairmont State University is one of the two program options offered at the Aviation Center of Excellence.

Students admitted to this selective program have the opportunity to gain a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management with an emphasis on business in aviation while simultaneously completing the flight hours and training required to obtain their private, instrument, and commercial ratings.

Aviation Management

The other degree option offered at the Aviation Center of Excellence is the Aviation Management Degree.   Successful graduates of the Aviation Management option should expect to pursue a myriad of career opportunities.  Graduates of our program have successfully obtained careers in the following fields, among others:

  • Airport Management
  • Air Traffic Control
  • Airline Management Positions
  • Airport Security Managers
