NONTRADITIONAL STUDENT CONCERNS:

A primaryÂ objective of the Caperton Center is toÂ make coursesÂ accessible to nontraditional students. The historical definition of "nontraditional student" is "one who is over the age of 25." Today, the definition more broadly refers to students who:

have delayed enrollment into post-secondary education
attend school part-time
are financially independent of their parents
work full-time while enrolled
have dependents other than a spouse
are single parents
lack a standard high-school diploma.

To accomplish the objective of making courses accessible, the Caperton Center offers daytime, evening, weekend, and online courses. In addition, administrative offices are open from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Parking is available on site, and the facility is in full compliance with the Americans withÂ Disabilities ActÂ regulations.

The faculty and staff at the Gaston Caperton Center strive to help all students make the transition to college as stress-free as possible.
