Fairmont State University Academy for the Arts is dedicated to providing students quality training and exposure to the arts. Instruction in visual art, music, theatre, dance, creative writing, and world languages enable students to appreciate, perform and create. The academy utilizes Fairmont State facilities and highly qualified instructors drawn from Fairmont State faculty and area teachers. The Academy is a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, using its standards as a base for its curriculum. The Academy for the Arts is integral to Fairmont State University’s long standing identification with its community, in particular the cultural and social development of the region.

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and the Masquers theatre group present Paul Rudnick’s “I Hate Hamlet” in February.

“I Hate Hamlet” opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, on the Wallman Hall stage. Other performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21; 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22; and 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 26 through 28. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door or by calling the Box Office at (304) 367-4240. FSU students are admitted for free.
