At Fairmont State University, our experienced faculty members hold doctorates and are CPA’s. They coordinate an integrated educational experience for Accounting majors by teaching:
- Financial accounting
- Managerial accounting
- Information systems
The B.S. in Accounting provides students with traditional technical accounting skills. Accounting majors are also introduced to expanded skills in analytical reasoning, problem solving and oral and written communication.
Specific classes for Accounting majors also include Economic Principles and Problems, Business Ethics and Corporate Accountability and Case Studies in Accounting.
Fairmont State students can also earn a minor in Accounting.
Fairmont State Accounting graduates are prepared for careers in public, industrial, and governmental accounting in positions. Accounting majors become general accountants, account managers, staff accountants in public accounting, internal auditors, industrial accountants, financial analysts and Internal Revenue agents. Some untraditional careers include:
